Originally from Oklahoma, Dr. Paul Brewer is currently Director of Instrumental Music (Wind Ensemble and Jazz Bands) at Aquinas College in Grand Rapids, MI (616-632-2416). Since 1990 he has also been on the summer jazz faculty at the Interlochen Arts Camp where he primarily teaches jazz composition/arranging and jazz improvisation.

He has an impressive list of education credits, having taught music and directed student bands at every age level. Paul was featured as a clinician at the 1998 International Association of Jazz Educators conference in New York City and again in 2002 in Toronto, Canada. During the 1990s, Brewer was Director of Jazz Studies at the University of Southern Colorado. Paul established a jazz camp at the university and continues the tradition as Director of the Aquinas Jazz Camp each June.


Brewer has appeared with over 50 artists, including Milt Jackson, J.J. Johnson, Mel Torme, Eddie Daniels, Dr. Billy Taylor, Max Roach, Bob Hope, Lena Horne, and Leon Russell.
